ENGINEERED GARMENTS Guayabera Shirt – Indigo Chambray: The style is thought to have originated some time in the 18th century in the city of Sancti Spiritus where a wealthy landowner asked his wife to create him a shirt with multiple pockets cut from a lightweight cotton fabric called batiste. The landowner’s fruit-picking workers decided to copy the shirt and named it yayabera after the river that ran through the estate.

Another source suggests that the name was derived from the large pockets of the shirt which were used by workers to carry the guayaba fruit (guavas, as we know them). Either way, the shirt was born, with the earliest versions featuring four front pockets, vertical pleats and in many cases decorative embroidery.

Delivery & return

Buying on approval – We are happy to accept returns from our online shop (exclusions apply*) within 15 days of receipt as long as they are in original resalable condition.

Please send an e-mail to info@theroombarcelona.com informing us about your return within 15 days of item’s arrival. Please keep in mind return shipping fees are assumed by the customer, unless there’s a shipping error (ex. wrong size/ item delivered).

Customers should keep in mind that all items must be unworn, in their original condition, with all original tags attached and in their original packaging to be eligible for refund or exchange.
We do not accept returns on cosmetic products or earrings. For hygiene and safety reasons we do not accept returns on swimwear and lingerie, unless the hygiene sticker is intact.
THEROOM Barcelona reserves the right to reject any returned items that do not meet the requirements stated above. If the item has been used, you will not get a refund and if the package is damaged we will charge a fee of at least 20% of the value of the merchandise or 30 EURO. If your refund/exchange is rejected, you will be notified via email.
